Delphidians were a species of grey-skinned humanoids that originated from the planet Delphidia, in the Delphidian Cluster. The most notable Delphidian individual was the pirate Sidon Ithano. He was known as the most notorious thief of his species.

Biology and appearance Edit

Due to their dark grey, striated skin, many believed Delphidians were reptilian; however, they were actually a mammalian species. They had five fingers on each hand, and five toes per foot.

History Edit

The Delphidians originally hailed from Delphidia, but in the early years of space travel they would spread out among the other planets in the Delphidian Cluster, including the planet Gatalenta.

The species were part of a brawling confederation founded centuries before the Galactic Republic discovered their area of the galaxy. The individual Delphidian cultures on each world spoke a vast number of dialects, as well as a common tongue that evolved for trade within the Delphidian Cluster. Eventually, these languages would be given up in favor of Basic, the tongue used by the majority of the galaxy.

Thousands of years later, in the year 8 BBY, the Galactic Empire invaded Delphidia. The Delphidians of Suothon were taken captive and transported to Imperial labor camps. This event is known as the Subjugation of Delphidia.

Behind the scenes Edit

Wollivan

An open-mouthed Delphidian can be seen in the background, to the right of Wollivan.

Delphidians first appeared in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Two Delphidians can be seen in the movie: the first is Captain Sidon Ithano, who is sitting at a table with his first mate Quiggold; the second is an unidentified Delphidian seen sitting at a table behind the character Wollivan.
